Overview
uCMS is the web application that enables University College staff to modify the look and contents of its website. It is scripted in PHP using a MySQL database for storing all the user-side information.
Tools
Its tools allow users to quickly update (sub)categories, their contents, add/edit/delete courses and outlines, modify user access levels, link between various parts of the website, customize the knowledge base (FAQ), and upload files for internal or on-site use.
Content Editor
The content editor allows different levels of content-editing (basic, advanced, etc.). It offers access to the basic text editing tools, but also to more advanced web editing features including uploading, editing, and linking images or documents on the spot.
Course Management
Outlines and manuals for courses can be managed through the uCMS. UCU staff can add, modify, or remove outline and manuals for available courses. Courses can be added under the respective categories. In the case of University College Utrecht these are: Academic Core, Humanities, Science, and Social Science.
FAQ
The knowledge base within uCMS is organized in categories in such a way that each one contains a number of questions of the same topic. The FAQ has its own search and word-index yielding quick answers to user questions. The knowledge base has an extra function that enables it to track an answer to any question inserted by the user based on the already existing questions and answers in the database.
